Ramesh Bhateja was born & brought up in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, a small town located on the bank of river Ganga. From his very early age he developed a passion for social work and wanted to do something for Human welfare. He was obsessed to be an environmentalist but due to some foreseen circumstances persisted at those times he choose to undergo his graduation and started writing short poems. Mr. Bhateja in his young age got recognized as an upcoming writer and was associated with various writers’ associations cherished at those times. Though writer’s in past were deprived of good income, which led him to concentrate on earning & finding a stable source of income.
In his above stated quest, he then established Shakti Enterprises and initiated his business by supplying and trading various needed goods to Industries. After being financially stable and finding a source of income, Mr. Bhateja came up with R.B Concretes where he was focused to do business over wide variety of materials & technology majorly related to upliftment of rural and urban sewage system. In due course of time he pioneered himself with rare technology of construction of Septic tanks and was fully dedicated in bringing sewage disposal system in limelight and made his fortune from this passion. Also he attained his specialization to provide Anti-Earthquake pre-fabricated Huts, which proved to be a game changer for toughest terrains and with minimum time frame in hand.
He is inspired by Mr. Bideshwari Pathak, founder of Sulabh Sanitation Society & a Padma-Shree who spent his life in promoting water sanitation, hygiene and also key personal in promoting individual toilets in rural & urban India. Because of the passion and dedication what Mr. Pathak shown in bringing the problem of toilets forward, Mr. Bhateja developed his own style of Hobby of collecting news paper cuttings/clippings related to Toilets, Sanitation and Hygiene. This unique collection is far beyond our imagination and it date backs to 25 years of continuous assemblage of news cuttings which is now in demand for various hygiene & cleaning awareness program conducted all over India.
Mr. Bhateja didn’t stop here and continued spreading his glory by holding various political post from Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Uttarakhand as Media Cell Incharge (District level), Secretary-Punjabi Mahasabha (District-Level), Member State- Ganga Clean Mission, Social Work Member-Ganga Manthan, New Delhi. Till date, in his political career he remains connected to grass root level members and contribute in strengthening the organization from within in.
Mr. Ramesh Bhateja a Philanthropist by nature has set an example of success and he is also a role model for many who admire his leadership and calm nature. In his personal life, Mr. Bhateja is a person who believes in “Simple Living & High Thinking” and the same he managed to get into his life. Also in his young age he got the privilege of hosting a lunch for Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji, Ex-Prime Minister of India at his residence in Roorkee and a participation at press conference with Mr. Lal Krishna Advani Ji.
Mr. Bhateja is quite proactive in attending conferences & exhibition related to Hygiene, Public Awareness, sanitation, disaster management & rehabilitation. He is closely associated with Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee; National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee and takes interest in showcasing his work at different levels.
In Nutshell, Mr. Ramesh Bhateja is a living legend in the field of public health & toilets and has invested many years of his life in improving the sewage disposal system in both rural & urban India. He is an expert in his field of study and loves to be consulted for challenging & difficult working sites, Mr. Bhateja is a person who believes in discussing viable solutions to a problem rather than being stuck at the problem itself. Also he has numerous small instances in life which were a source of inspiration and made ever lasting impressions in his life, few would be discussed here. First being the meeting with Mr. Bideshwari Pathak where he gifted Mr. Pathak a self-styled model of toilet seat made up of ceramic and got special attention & appreciation from Mr. Pathak, which led him to continue his services with much more focused mind. Second being the special appreciation of Mr. Bhateja at World Toilet Submit, New Delhi by Mr. R S Arun Kumar, Executive Director World Toilet Organization, Singapore. This motivated him from inside and helped him to execute his daily tasks with much more precision & perfection. He was also been appreciated by Mr. Atul Gupta, gold mines giant of South Africa and a great Philanthropist. Apart from all these he got special attention from the management of Science Express-Bio Diversity Special, it’s a train inducted into Indian Railways for promoting education & awareness in various field of studies. The list of such instances goes on and shed more light on the nature & thoughts of Mr. Bhateja.
Even after tasting the fruits of success, Mr. Bhateja is very much open to general public and eager to solve their problems whole heartedly. His simple nature enables many around him to directly converse with Mr. Bhateja over persisting problems and to get a wise advice in solving those.
Presently, Mr. Bhateja is associated with National Mission for Clean Ganga under the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation and is in continuous touch with Honorable Uma Bharti Ji, Cabinet Minister, Government of India. Also he is one of the technical contributor in making Ganga Clean mission a success for which Mr. Bhateja is actively participating & contributing his wide experience through premier institutes like IIT Roorkee & IIT Kanpur.
